The Finale, Darkmatter and Friends, presented by JPEG2000 and Lokal Stories

We are proud to announce $1,122.20 was raised for InsideOUT!

At this event we showcased Alok Vaid-Menon, an internationally acclaimed nonbinary writer, educator, performance artist and public speaker, based in New York City. Alongside Alok were readings, videos and performances from incredible local and national artists and writers: Hana Pera Aoake, Jordana Bragg, Dilohana Lekamge, Alijah Winter, Faith Wilson, Georgina Watson, Hera Lindsay Bird, Laura Duffy, Mya Morrison-Middleton, Piupiu Maya-Turei and Tayi Tibble. Our compare for the evening was Sean Burn, founder of JPEG2000, with our guest of honour Tabby Besley founder of InsideOUT.

We want to thank everyone who attended this event and supported us during the entire project. We especially want to thank all the artists and writers who generously shared their lived experiences with us and the community, in particular Hana Pera Aoake and Jordana Bragg, who have been the leading voices in this project.

We also want to thank our core team and JPEG2000 who devoted so much time and love to help us see the project through. Thank you to our long list of volunteers, as well as Laura Duffy, Morgan Fowler and Elise Lanigan for documenting the entire project. Also a huge appreciation to the New Zealand Portrait Gallery, and of course our funders Wellington City Council and Creative New Zealand.

This has been an incredibly honest, sensitive and raw project, and we feel honoured to have had the opportunity to work with such talented people, who were willing to take a risk and collaborate with us.

Until next time,
Sophie Giblin
